BANGKOK (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Spain extended their unbeaten run in the championship for the seventh game rolling past Lithuania 79-47 in a quarterfinal game on Friday.
Spain now take on Argentina in the semifinals. Lithuania will play Russia in the 5-8 classification.
Spain outscored their rivals 10-2 in the final 2:44 of the first quarter and only grew in strength as the game progressed.
Spain led by a staggering 17 points towards the end of the third quarter before bolstering it to win by 32 points.
Cristina Ouvina returned a 7/11 record in field attempts, including converting her both three-pointer attempts for a game-high 19 points.
"I think the team is improving with every game. The confidence is getting higher. But I think we are still a couple of steps away from our best," said Spain coach Lucas Mondelo.
"The important thing is the team is coming together and playing well against different kinds of competition," he added.
"Tomorrow it'll almost be a war. They are a very strong team emotionally. And our girls will also be charged up," Mondelo said of the semifinal against Argentina.
Marta Xargay Casademont continued her good showing for Spain with 14 points. Leonor Rodriguez and Marta Tudanca scored 12 each.
Where Spain flourished, Lithuania faltered.
Giedre Paugaite was the hardest working Lithuanian player and finished as the highest scorer with 15 points. Egle Siksniute scored 14, but 11 if them in the first half.
