BANGKOK (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Twice defending champions the United States recorded the highest margin defeat in the Championship while beating Mali 100-38 to finish the Group D proceedings on Saturday.
Kelly Faris and Samantha Prahalis sunk a three-pointer each, Nnemkadi Ogwumike scored twice from the paint, Skylar Diggins scored in the lane as the US blazed away to a 12-0 run midway through the first quarter and cruised along.
Faris led the scoring for the Americans with 13 points as coach Carol Owens fielded 11 of her 12 players, and all of them scored.
Shenise Johnson had 12 points and Taber Spani and Destiny Williams both scored 11 points each.
Aissata Djibo was the highest scorer for Mali with 18 points.
