BANGKOK (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - European U18 Championship for Women silver medalists France regained their winning ways beating South American challengers Brazil 59-48 in Group E of the eight-final round on Monday.
The result left both Brazil and France locked with a 2-2 win-loss record in Group E.
France surely seemed to have learnt their lessons their Saturday's defeat to another South American team in the final preliminary round game.
Allison Vernerey was rather subdued but Alexia Plagnard, Laurie Datchy and Medelome Medenou moved around with customary cohesion.
Plagnard led the French cause with 15 points, four rebounds and two assists as Medenou grabbed 10 boards and as many points.
Datchy too had 10 points.
Having fought on even keel in the first quarter, France took charge midway through the second quarter and never looked back.
Brazil who started with much enthusiasm, but withered as the game as progressed.
Tatiane Nacimenton was the highest scorer for Brazil with 16 points.
