BANGKOK (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Japan enhanced their chances for a quarterfinal berth, but reducing the Chinese hopes in the process, with a 78-70 win in a Group F encounter on Tuesday.
Japan are now 2-3 in their win-loss and China are 1-4.
Yuka Mamiya led the Japanese scoring with 18 points, and collected eight rebounds. Kyoko Ito had 17 points and Kana Motoyama 16.
All three had played similar stellar roles when Japan defeated China in the gold medal game of the FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women last year.
Zheng Bowen led the scoring for the game with 19 points for China and Lu Wen had 12.
